Soil Carbon Accounts - Soil Organic Carbon Flow Physical Account 2021 1.4.3
Description
This account forms part of the Soil Carbon Accounts theme. This account shows potential increases in soil organic carbon (SOC) in NSW (by tonnes and tonnes per hectare) by land use for statistical areas (at SA2 level).
The SA2s were combined with the 2017 Land use map, which captures how the landscape in NSW is being used for food production, forestry, nature conservation, infrastructure and urban development. After that, potential SOC increase in 20-year estimated values was extracted and aggregated at these intersected polygons. SOC information is based on the findings by Gray et al. (2021). A warning about these figures should be stated since there is a degree of uncertainty associated with SOC estimations. For more information on this, access the source of data.
