Soil Carbon Accounts - Soil Organic Carbon Condition Physical Account 2021 1.4.2
Description
This account shows soil organic carbon (SOC) in NSW (by tonnes and tonnes per hectare) categorised by land use for statistical areas (at SA2 level).
The SA2s were combined with the 2017 Land use map, which captures how the landscape in NSW is being used for food production, forestry, nature conservation, infrastructure and urban development. After that, SOC stock values were extracted and aggregated at these intersected polygons. Digital soil maps of SOC estimated stocks over the 0- to 30-cm depth interval are presented at 100-m resolution across NSW (Gray et al., 2021). A warning about these figures should be stated since there is a degree of uncertainty associated with SOC estimations. For more information on this, access the source of data.
